My Story

I know how challenging it can be to work as a creator.   I have changed careers in the past 40 years. It can be frightening, disorienting and upsetting.  But it can also be exhilarating, positive and energizing.  The latest change I made, was my choice to shift the focus of my career from mental health social work, to life coaching for creators.  I work to help people realize their potential, overcome their perfectionism and procrastination, and re-ignite their dreams. I have worked for a lifetime on serving people and have gained many skills to bring out the best in the clients that I have encountered.

JUST WHEN THE BUTTERFLY THOUGHT HER LIFE WAS OVER
SHE BEGAN TO FLY

I am well acquainted with difficult career decisions. I reinvented my self later in my career by applying to the University of Maryland's School of Social Work and graduating with a Masters of Science in Social Work with a focus on mental health.

During my time as a mental health social worker I helped many clients who had to surmount a myriad of challenges to become high performing members in their community. Caring deeply for people led me to the coaching career that I now practice. I actively listen in a focused and empathetic way to my clients. When you speak to me you have someone who devotes their undivided attention on you.

When I was  22 years old, I attended The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre and I know what it is like to  have to work so many different jobs to survive in the city.  For two very concentrated years I steeped myself in the creative process of an actress.   After leaving the playhouse I wrote lyrics and worked with many different musicians that work culminated in writing a song for Richie Havens that was recorded and was played at the Yankee Stadium Concert for Nelson Mandela.  For 22 years I kept journals based on the Ira Progoff: At A Journal Workshop and this spawned a great deal of short story and poetry writing.

Since my creative pursuits were not paying the bills I worked at
The Johns Hopkins University Information Security Institute.  I spent 11 years counseling graduating students from all over the world on interviewing techniques, and the importance of marketing themselves.  I helped place those students in numerous major corporations and federal and state entities. During this time I did research on the creative process and what it takes to be a creator

I am sympathetic to people who feel tremendously creative yet still feel stuck. I want to bring the creativity out in your life so you can spend more time doing what you love to do.

You have made the right decision to consider talking to me for your free 50 minute consult if you are a person who wants to maximize your creativity or  find a better way to market what you do create.  I will help you solve, and create productive solutions to problems that have blocked your movement toward the life you desire.  Call me if you need help with direction on how you might leave an abusive or unproductive environment.   I know I can help you.

While working as a Mental Health Social Worker, I was and still am, constantly looking for ways to develop myself so I can be up to date with the latest learning, design, and motivational theories. With me as your coach you will have someone who empathizes deeply with the unique challenges a creator faces when bringing their vision to life.  I am excited to help you with this mission.
